I'm a simple emigrant and I always drink tea

My favorite drink, followed by water. Statistics says that almost 80% of Germans choose mineral water as their favorite non-alcoholic drink. And then come 'Coca-Cola drinks', I think Fanta is among the favorites. Unlike Germans, I can't stand mineral water, and I don't like soda in general. Recently I understood where the love here, especially for orange soda, comes from. During World War II, there was no shipping between Germany and America, and Germans couldn't obtain Coca-Cola syrup. Then the head of a German plant decided to invent his own drink: that's how Fanta was born. At first it didn't have a fixed flavor; it was made from whatever came to hand. More precisely, what was available here and now, seasonal, was used. After the war the factories merged and Fanta stopped being produced. But as you can imagine, later they started again. The love for orange Fanta didn't go away, so later in Germany two more drinks were invented: Mezzo-mix and Spezi. These are literally half-and-half mixes of cola and "orange soda." Moreover, if you order Spezi in a cafe, you are most likely to be served the mixed Fanta and cola in a glass, not a bottle of Spezi. This drink is very popular here; it's mixed at home as well. And the Paulaner brewery only in 2022 sold about 100 million liters. And you, do you like soda? What do you mainly drink? photo: paulaner
