I'm a simple emigrant and I believe that self-determination is a personal matter for everyone

And in Frankfurt, the happiest holiday of the year has arrived: Gay Pride πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ Here it is held later, because the date was chosen in honor of the Stonewall riots of 1969. This is considered the first moment in history when the LGBT community pushed back against the conventional way of life. Only 50 years ago in the United States, police raids on bars were common, but this time something didn't go as planned at the Stonewall bar: perhaps the spirit of the times (the late sixties there were quite a lot of movements for the rights of various social groups), or the fact that raids usually went as planned, and this time happened unexpectedly. But one thing is clear: people were tired of being afraid of who they are. Homosexuality was considered a mental illness; they were subjected to all sorts of accusations and incitement, and then taken away under one of the relevant charges and castrated or forcibly placed in a psychiatric hospital. Things are a little better now, but the world still has a long way to go to full acceptance of them. #holidays #frankfurt
