I'm a simple emigrant, and I believe that self-determination is a personal matter for everyone
And in Frankfurt the happiest holiday of the year has arrived: Gay Pride π³οΈβπ Here it is celebrated later, because the date was chosen in honor of the Stonewall riots of 1969. It is considered the first moment in history when the LGBT community stood up to the prevailing way of life. Only 50 years ago in the United States police raids on bars were common, but this time something went off script at the Stonewall gay bar: either the spirit of the times (late sixties saw many movements for the rights of various social groups), or the fact that raids usually went according to plan, and this time it happened unexpectedly. But one thing is clear: people were tired of fearing who they are. Homosexuality was considered a mental illness; they were harassed and incited against, and then taken away under some of the corresponding articles and castrated or forcibly placed in a psychiatric hospital. Things are a little better now, but the world still has a long way to go to fully accept them. #holidays #frankfurt
