I'm a simple emigrant and I discovered hiking for myself after work

Usually it seems that hiking is an activity for several days or, at the very least, for weekends. But this week my friends and I proved that, having a 9-to-5 job, you can still find time for mini-trips. So on Wednesday at 6:15 PM we met at the last metro stop and headed into the mountains. Well, into the mountains. In fact there are none in Frankfurt, but nearby there is the Taunus mountain range. Its highest peak reaches 800 meters. We set off on a short route from the Kamut site Kamut about 10 km long with a 500-meter ascent. Almost the entire way there was vertical, and the descent fairly gentle, as if you were walking along a straight road. It took us a little over an hour to reach Weiße Mauer — a place with large stones and a beautiful view of the Taunus's highest point. Another hour we reached the summit we wanted to conquer — 600 m above sea level. There we met three hikers; they were settling in for the night. We spoke with them in German, and after an awkward joke about them in Russian, it turned out that two of them understood everything. This is a telling moment: in Frankfurt, it seems to me, it's impossible to end up somewhere where there isn't a Russian speaker. Even at the top of a mountain. On the way back we were treated to a wonderful view of night-time Frankfurt, the bright lights of which are best viewed from afar. Then, in the more wooded part of the path we switched off the flashlights and simply enjoyed the silence and the starry sky. Getting down around ten in the evening, we decided to stop by the beer garden in the neighboring town. The kitchen was already closed, and everyone was hungry, so I ordered hot chocolate. You should have seen the look on the waiter’s face taking my order. We stayed until closing, and at midnight I was home, tired but happy. Have you ever gone hiking on workdays? #German_trips
