Post: I hardly use Instagram

I'm a simple emigrant and I hardly use Instagram

A few people, congratulating me on my birthday, wished that I would post photos on Instagram more often. I was even surprised myself, but it felt nice. Before, I posted something regularly, and everything changed after I moved. Germany even intruded here with its own hands. The thing is, due to strict (and at times very stupid) data privacy laws, posting something that includes other people is quite risky. If you happen to post a photo and someone recognizes themselves in it and they don’t like it, they can at least ask you to remove it. And further, depending on how principled the person is, they can complain about the post or your account to the platform and even consult a lawyer. And the law will almost certainly be on their side. Because of this, at the very start I had to ask for permission to publish photos of everyone present. Especially considering that we hung out with colleagues quite often. As you can imagine, I got tired of it quickly, stopped asking, and started posting less, and then I simply fell out of the habit. At the same time, I am okay with photos of me on other people’s photos, and I’ve told a hundred times that you don’t need to ask me. We did that kind of posting in our student days, so nothing scares me anymore! For those on the other side, don’t be afraid to write to the owners of the photo to have it removed if that’s really what you want. There are a few exceptions when they might refuse and would be right: if you’re somewhere in a crowd and only your parents with a magnifying glass can recognize your face, if you’re part of a rally or demonstration, and sometimes if you’re a public figure. Therefore in Germany there are quite few formats for blogs where YouTubers go out on the street and ask people various questions. You have to get consent, set up the camera so as not to capture anything extra, then hours of editing, and if someone suddenly complains – you have to change again. You can also end up spending a fortune on lawyers. My favorites Йоко и Клаас, by the way, often do pranks, and I specifically looked at how they manage it, because their material on TV goes out to millions of viewers. Turns out, that’s how it is with photos. Now you understand why it was easier for me to drop it than to follow the local laws? And have you started posting fewer photos since moving to Germany or do you blur strangers? #emigrant_happiness #Ordnung #we_dont_like
