Post: I love jam

I'm a simple emigrant and I love jam

Guys, I know we’ve all waited for this for a long time, and our prayers have been heard! After almost 50 years, in Germany fruit jams can officially be sold under the name Marmelade. The news release also clarified: “for example, from strawberries, raspberries or apricots” so you don’t get confused about what it’s about. Still, this is a serious issue; the EU has put all its might into it, as soon as they recovered it after the law on non-removable lids! Remember, in 1973, during negotiations to join the EU, England established the most important rule, without which it refused to continue any communication. Only citrus fruit jams could be called Marmelade, and all the rest — Konfitüre (jam). You won’t believe it, but the term “Konfitüre” never stuck among the people. And the European Union didn’t leave us alone with this problem! Rolling up its sleeves, it took on this heavy task and legalized the use of the word Marmelade. Congratulations to all of us: we are no longer outside the law. I must admit, sometimes, after asking for strawberry Marmelade in a store, I would then go home and turn around. I checked to see if the jam-name police were following me! But now I can sleep peacefully. But that’s not all! Under the new rules, per kilogram of jam there must be 450 g of fruit, compared to 350 g earlier. Nutrition and product quality expert Silke Folbrecht says that this will automatically reduce the amount of sugar, which I personally doubt. I can’t count how many times I bought another bag of fruit at the supermarket just to make sure they were pretty but tasteless. Don’t clutch your chest; the ready-made products won’t be thrown away. Officials didn’t sleep through the nights and drafted a plan for a transition period. But stay on your toes—the government, of course, tries to protect us from everything, however, if you see on the shelf “fruit paste” (Fruchtaufstrich), then no legislative requirements have been established for its composition. So carefully study the ingredient list if you really want to know exactly how much fruit it contains. A magnifying glass can now be bought only on Amazon. Our next victory! Together we will change the world for the better! #food #Ordnung photo © Chromorange/Imago
