I remember, when I had just moved, taxi prices here shocked me. It often happens that even for two people it's cheaper to ride a taxi than to take the metro. For example, from my home to the station two tram tickets cost €7.6, and for a taxi last time I paid €6.3. Even though public transport in Frankfurt runs around the clock, at night I want to call a taxi solely for safety. But I understand that people often can't afford it for economic reasons. But for us girls there is a lifeline — women's night taxi. These are six-euro coupons for rides from 22:00 to 6:00 within the city limits, only for girls aged 14 and older. The program exists in many cities, but it's not nationwide, so the name and conditions from city to city may differ. Just search in Google for “FrauenNachtTaxi + city name” and you will definitely find it if it's available to you. In Frankfurt, vouchers can be obtained at the Center for Climate and Sustainable development at Hauptwache, and from January 5 also by mail at info.frauenreferat@stadt-frankfurt.de. Each person per year can receive six such vouchers, and you must use them by the end of 2026.
