I'm a simple emigrant, and I really love throwing money away
I like this one drink they have here. I wanted to buy it in jars, couldn't find it — bought it in a bottle. I got home and realized I don't have a bottle opener. But upstairs there's a big shared kitchen, I figured, well, there will surely be one there. On the way out I suddenly decided to take the bottle with me so I could open it right away there; while I was "grabbing" it I tugged on the key, didn't notice anything, and went on. Upstairs there wasn't an opener, and I opened it against the railing, basically. Returning, I spent about ten minutes trying to open the door — couldn't. I went out, of course, in shorts and a T-shirt, without a phone and money. I went to seek help, found someone, explained everything, and he says "but you have a broken key, look at mine, and you're missing only one part..." I was like "oh shit" (I also thought that this piece of the key had got stuck in the lock). We called a handyman; December 30, Sunday, late evening — the overprice is even hard to imagine. There was nowhere to go, we called a guy, he arrived, and in one second opened it. I paid 167 euros at a SPECIAL PRICE; it would have been 400 otherwise. We went in, and on the floor lies this piece of the key, at least the lock wasn't damaged and I had two keys. So I'll wander with one for now, and when I get the next paycheck, I'll go confess that I broke it. #curiosities #money
