I'm a simple emigrant, just kidding, it's going to be about International Women's Day

The Day of Resistance of the working-class and peasant women to bourgeois oppression, which gradually turned into the Day of Love and Spring, originated in Germany. More than a hundred years ago, German activist Clara Zetkin proposed making March 8 a day of struggle by the female half of the population for their rights. Back then, no one was thinking about flowers β€” there were more serious ideas: shortening the working day, increasing wages. Despite the history, today in Germany this holiday is celebrated mainly by immigrants, sometimes by the older generation. And even then, the celebration rarely consists of bouquets of flowers or dining out at restaurants. Mostly, on March 8 there are women's parades and demonstrations. There are quite a lot of events for women only, special promotions and discounts, or, for example, a club program where that evening the DJ is all women. This day is not a national holiday, and only from this year and only in Berlin did International Women's Day become a red-letter day on the calendar. And here in Frankfurt tomorrow they promise various marches all day. #holidays
