I'm a simple emigrant, and it's hot in Frankfurt
To avoid melting away in our urban city, I’ve put together an ultimate collection of different places in the district where you can swim. Rich folks with cars, I haven’t forgotten about you and I’ve included parking information as well. Save this post for yourself, share it with friends, and let’s go swimming! 🏖Langener Waldsee — the largest swimming lake near Frankfurt: 900 m of sandy beach, shallow entry, a pirate-ship playground for kids, volleyball and walking trails. Perfect for families and youths, but on hot days it’s very crowded and there is little shade. Entrance: 2.5–4 €, Parking: ~3 €, limited on peak days. Address: Langener Waldsee, 63225 Langen. 🏖Waldorf Waldsee — a cozy lake with clear water and plenty of shade. Sand and grassy beach, barbecue area, volleyball court, snack bar with sausages and ice cream. The entry is shallow, but in places deep — for a relaxed rest and no plane noise. Entrance: 2.5–4 €, parking: ~3 €, near the lake. Address: Waldsee, 64546 Mörfelden-Walldorf. 🏖Pinta Beach — a choice for those who don’t fear noise: a lake near the airport, planes are almost part of the landscape. Clean water, sandy beach, jumps from a platform, volleyball and wakeboarding on a cable. Suitable for teenagers and adults, but not for quiet relaxation. Entrance: 2.5–4 €, Parking: about 3 €. Address: Raunheimer Waldsee, 65479 Raunheim. 🏖Rodgau See — a local Saint-Tropez with bright blue water and a relaxed atmosphere. A large lake with two beaches, a green lawn, jump platforms, volleyball and a water play zone for children. A recently opened new building with changing rooms and toilets. Entrance: 2.5–5 €, parking: available, free and paid options. Address: Strandweg 63110 Rodgau. 🏖Hattsteinweiher — a small and cozy forest lake with a sandy beach, lawn and a pontoon. Ideal for a calm rest, and nearby there’s a restaurant with a beautiful terrace and tasty cuisine. Entrance and parking: free. Address: Am Hattsteinweiher 1, 61250 Usingen. 🏖Kinzigsee — a clean lake with a sandy beach for swimming and a separate area for boats, windsurfing and fishing. There is a playground and a fenced shallow area for toddlers. Volleyball and a wide clearing for sunbathing. Café and restaurant offer various dining options. Entrance: 3–5 €, parking: about 3 €. A floating play platform, a snack bar and a restaurant. WiFi available for a small fee. Entrance: about 4–6 €, parking: plenty of spaces, ~3 €. Address: Am Kahler See 2, 63796 Kahl am Main. 🏖Bärensee — the warmest lake in the district with two sandy beaches and a platform for jumping into the water. There’s a large playground, mini-golf and table tennis. Parking is limited, better to arrive in the morning. Entrance: about 3–5 €, parking ~3 €. Clear water, there is volleyball, table tennis, a kids’ water playground and lounger rental. In hot weather it’s very popular and noisy. Entrance: about 3–5 €, parking ~3 €.
