I'm a simple emigrant, and most importantly, legal

The document that allows me to live and work here is the Blue Card work visa. While in Russia it can be obtained for a period of 3 to 6 months, and then upon arrival you apply for a residence permit for a longer period. My visa was for six months. During this time I managed to pass the probation period at work. Practically immediately after arriving I went to the Ausländerbehörde (immigration office) and submitted an application for a residence permit. I was scheduled an appointment to submit documents and immediately obtain the residence permit on May 15 at 7:30 a.m. — on the last day of my current visa. I had heard all sorts of stories about how horribly everything goes there and what jerks work there, and I went with great hope that I would meet a decent manager, but I was prepared for anything. First quest: arriving by 7:30 is impossible because the building only opens at 7:31, and it’s a good thing I never arrive early — I only had to wait 5 minutes. Next quest: find the right office, and it’s simply unreal! If your number is 01.010, you’ll see all numbers from 01.000 to 01.245, except the one you need, because you know where it is? Right, on another floor and it has no identifying signs and certainly no clear large digits. After that the game begins, where you have to choose your Pokémon, though the Pokémon here is you! Every time I tried to enter, one of the managers told me in German to wait outside without explanations. My joy knew no bounds when another girl came out for me. She spoke English well and explained every moment to me. It turned out that a document from my employer specifying the term for which the visa is needed is missing, because my contract is open-ended, and a residence permit is possible only for 3–4 years. She requested it through her system to speed things up. Therefore my packet of documents was accepted, and I was issued a temporary visa for six months costing 13 euros, and the next appointment was scheduled for the first available date — July 17. Now the main thing is not to forget to put this in your calendar and not to lose the temporary paper during this time, because it, of course, isn’t pasted anywhere. #useful
