I'm a simple emigrant and I am still discovering the place where I live
Not long ago I learned that Frankfurt isn’t even the capital of Hesse (the state in which it is located). States are local administrative divisions, like regions or provinces here. The capital of Hesse, however, is Wiesbaden. It’s a small city in the west, about a 30-minute ride from my home by regional train. Even though the population here is under 300,000 people, it is rightfully regarded as the main city. In the early 20th century, it was here that there were more millionaires than in the rest of Germany, and during hostilities this place became the administrative center, because Frankfurt itself, for example, suffered and was destroyed much more severely. The city has long been famous for its thermal springs, which used to be visited by members of the elite. Here too is a casino where Dostoevsky gambled away his savings, something he wrote about in a letter to his wife. This is a fairly small but beautiful city with diverse buildings. One part of it is bordered by the Main River, another by the Rhine, and on the third side lie small mountains (up to 1,000 meters). There is a lot of greenery here and it is very pleasant to simply stroll through the streets and squares. If you are in Germany — definitely drop by :) #German_trips
