I'm a simple emigrant and I love little lights
December in Europe is the best time for travel, unless you really want to end up in the heat. In this month, cities become one big, beautiful celebration. Here Christmas is celebrated on December 24-25, and this holiday is much more important than New Year. People eagerly await the long-awaited family dinner and reunions with old friends. And to pass the time, they came up with Advent calendars. These are calendars with a pocket for each day from December 1 to 25, and in each pocket there are candies or small gifts. There are also so-called Advent wreaths, which are preferably handmade. This is a wreath for the door, for example, and four candles are placed in it, which are lit in turn every weekend, the last one on Christmas. In the city, the main center of attraction is the Christmas market. The large central square is filled with small stalls offering cool trinkets, or useful items, tasty food and, of course, hot mulled wine. And all of this flows onto the main pedestrian street. The markets are almost never empty; there are people who spend there nearly every day, they aren’t deterred by rain or cold, because mulled wine warms you and the company distracts from the nagging drops. This beauty ends on the last weekend before Christmas; at that time it’s crowded there. And in early January, literally within a couple of days, they dismantle all the structures. #holidays Photo © Tourismus+Congress GmbH Frankfurt am Main
