I'm a simple emigrant and I love little lights

December in Europe is the best time for travel, if you don’t really want to deal with the heat. This month, cities turn into one big and beautiful celebration. Here Christmas is celebrated on December 24–25, and this holiday is far more important than New Year. People eagerly await the long-awaited family dinner and reunions with old friends. And to pass the time, they’ve come up with Advent calendars. These are calendars with a small pocket for each day from December 1 to 25, and in each pocket lie candies or small presents. There are also so-called Advent wreaths, which are preferably handmade. This is a wreath for a door, for example, and four candles are placed into it, which are lit in turn every weekend, the last one on Christmas. In the city, the main attraction is the Christmas market. The large central square is lined with small stalls selling cool trinkets, useful items, tasty food and, of course, hot mulled wine. And all this flows smoothly onto the main pedestrian street. Markets are almost never empty; there are people who spend there nearly every day, they are not even frightened by rain or cold, because mulled wine warms you and the company distracts from the nagging drops. This beauty ends in the last weekend before Christmas; at that time it’s hard to move there. And already in early January, literally within just a couple of days, they will dismantle all the structures. #holidays Photo — © Tourismus+Congress GmbH Frankfurt am Main
