I'm a simple emigrant and I continue to explore the surroundings of Frankfurt
This time my friend and I came to the station and boarded a random train that departed earlier than the others. And we got off at the last stop, which was still in the Hesse region, because only it was covered by our travel pass. That's how we ended up in Alsbach-Hähnlein. This is a small municipality about a 40-minute drive from Frankfurt. The train drops you off in the middle of fields, and from there you have to guess which direction to go to search for civilization. We headed toward the hill, and it was worth it; soon the castle came into view. The Alsbach Castle was built in the 13th century by the Lords of Bickenbach on a 257-meter-high hill—the highest hill above the village of Alsbach. Then it fell into neglect, and until 1997 it was just local ruins, but then the Schloss Alsbach Historical and Cultural Development Association took on maintaining and promoting the castle ruins. They care for and restore the castle, and the association also hosts events there to attract tourists. After the castle we walked to the next attraction; half an hour of walking brought us, guess where? Right, to a cemetery, which was also closed. That’s the kind of town: a castle and a cemetery. And do you like short trips without overnight stays? #German_trips
