I'm a simple emigrant and I continue to explore the surroundings of Frankfurt
This time my friend and I came to the train station and sat on a random train that departed earlier than the others. We got off at the last station, which was still part of the state of Hesse, because only it was covered by our travel pass. That's how we ended up in Alsbach-Hähnlein. This is a small municipality about 40 minutes' drive from Frankfurt. The train drops you off in the middle of fields, and then you have to guess which way to go to find civilization. We headed for the hill, and it was worth it; very soon the castle came into view. The Alsbach Castle was built in the 13th century by the Lords of Bickenbach on the 257-meter-high hill above the village of Alsbach. Then it fell into disrepair and until 1997 it was just local ruins, but then the Schloss Alsbach Historical and Cultural Development Association took over maintenance and promotion of the castle ruins. They tend to and restore the castle; the association also holds events there to attract tourists. After the castle we went to the next attraction; a half-hour walk brought us, guess where? Right, to a cemetery, which was closed as well. Such is this town: a castle and a cemetery. And do you like short trips without overnight stays? #German_trips
