I'm a simple emigrant and I flew to Russia for the holidays
My first stop was Saint Petersburg, where record frosts had just hit: the temperature dropped to -24°C, and the humidity was above 80%. In short, there was an awful cold snap and it was snowing heavily. This created a Christmas mood, but also traffic jams on the roads. I, for the first time in a long time, saw snowdrifts and felt like a tourist in my homeland. After two years, many things surprise me: dangerous Russian driving, the lack of masks on pedestrians, the short sunny day. Despite the news about QR codes, their widespread introduction in St. Petersburg was postponed to the end of December. And in the Russian Museum they let me in with a Pfizer vaccination certificate: I don’t know whether it will work the same with establishments in Tyumen when the QR code arrives here in a couple of weeks. In any case, Russia is good: there is Georgian cuisine, alcohol prices are lower, and overall they don’t fear the coronavirus as much as in Singapore. Sigh, if only it were a bit warmer!
