I'm a simple emigrant and I continue to tell about a journey to Italy

At Lake Garda we went to a restaurant in Italy for the first time. We dropped into Villa Cian, drooling, eagerly anticipating refined dishes and the tastiest pizza, and what did we see? Pizza with french fries and sausages. In Italy, Carl!! And besides that, a full menu of strange dishes that looked more like leftovers from a neighboring restaurant, and everything costs a lot: about €20 for a main course. I thought the reason was the target audience — German tourists. But it turned out to be simpler: Italians really love such pizza. In the morning we didn’t eat there — we made pancakes in the camper and enjoyed breakfast with the views. My mistaken belief came from the fact that everyone there could speak German, while English — few. The thing is that historically South Tyrol (the province where we were) has constantly been under the influence of various German-speaking groups. In 1919 the region officially became Italian, and in 2001 the European Union gave the areas of South Tyrol–Tyrol–Trentino, which are partly in Austria, partly in Italy, an additional joint status within the EU. Now German is one of the official languages there. Then we went to the town of Limone. A calm and quiet resort town; I recommend strolling along the promenade, visiting the local castle, and perhaps going to the Lemon Museum. I couldn’t figure it out, because some doors were open, some closed, and inside there was nobody. We wandered in on our own, walked around for five minutes and headed to Sirmione. A town with a similar pace of life; the main things to visit are the ancient Scaliger Castle and the Grotto — the ruins of the villa of the Roman poet Catullus, who died in 54 BCE. An archaeological park with an olive grove, covering 20,000 square meters, is described as a magnificent example of private development. These towns are good because in a day you can completely tour them, and it’s cheaper here to stock up on food, souvenirs, things. In more touristy and larger cities everything will be more expensive, but more on that in the next post. #World_trips
