In general, Gelsenkirchen is a fairly interesting city, and lately you hear about it often. There used to be heavy industry there, which is why it was hit hard during wartime. Then the industry never fully recovered, and now the city, apparently, has decided to choose a new niche for itself – tourism. To make it clearer, in Gelsenkirchen there is the only Lenin statue in western Germany, installed in 2020 (???) year. It is also one of the dirtiest cities in Germany, and the poorest. Therefore, it seems strange to me that four Euro 2024 football matches were held there, and Taylor Swift will perform soon. Also, it is there that the best goalkeeper in Germany Manuel Neuer was born and the coolest attacking midfielder Mesut Özil.
