I'm a simple emigrant, and I don't know what to do with my vacation
In Germany, as a rule, the annual paid vacation lasts 25 working days. That means a two-week break will be counted as 10 days, not 14, and this is a noticeable difference, because in this case 15 days is already three whole weeks without work. In my company we are provided with 30 days of paid vacation, and they are more than enough for me. In the pre-corona times, by my own feeling, I used to plan and take trips all the time. And toward the end of the year I would still receive emails from HR asking me to take the remaining days. I think this happened because in Europe everything is close, and if you snag cheap tickets you can constantly travel for 4-5 days and feel like you’re on a proper vacation, especially by combining these trips with national holidays. The truth is, unlike in Russia, here if holidays fall on weekends, they are not compensated with extra workdays. During the corona times, there isn't much to travel to, but what I hate most is keeping track of the unique and constantly changing entry and exit rules for each country. Therefore now, by mid-November I have spent only a third of my vacation days. In our company they can’t be compensated with cash, but you can carry half over to the next year and use it until the end of May. And even with such an arrangement I will probably have to again pick up random days in December and act according to the situation: planning in our time is impossible. I never thought there would be a problem spending the honestly earned vacation. And how are you doing with plans for rest? #work
