I'm a simple emigrant and I got my driver's license

I had already described how the process of obtaining local driving licenses works in Germany in theory. Now I have gone through this path in practice. From the very start you need to enroll in a driving school; for me it cost €349, then you need to take a photo, attend first aid courses, and pass a vision test. Kind people have already pulled together and created a three-in-one package: I did all of this in one day and paid €50. Now you needed to have your Russian licenses translated with a notarial translation, which cost me €22 including postage. Next, with all these documents you had to go to the local vehicle authority and file an application to replace Russian licenses with local ones: administrative fee €44. Then the actual study began; theory didn't require you to attend classes, so I simply bought a practice app for €10. Theory can be studied and taken in many languages, including Russian; I passed it on the first try, exam fee €151. For me, logging night hours wasn't necessary, but 4 hours on the Autobahn are mandatory. In addition to that I completed another 10 lessons, total for the practical driving lessons I spent €1276, but it was necessary for me: I hadn't driven in ten years. Fortunately, I passed the practical driving test on the first try as well: exam fee €256. Next you just had to go and pick up your licenses; I handed back the Russian ones because they were already expired, but if you want to keep them, you can write a short handwritten statement. They will be kept for you without any problem. All in all, this process cost me €2158; it used to be cheaper. And how did you obtain your licenses, how much did you spend on it? #useful #money
