I'm a simple emigrant and I love to rest

After being delighted by one public holiday instead of ten for the New Year, I decided to see what holidays there actually are in Germany. First of all, it's worth saying that official holidays here are different for each state. Frankfurt is located in the state of Hesse; we have only 12 'red' days in the calendar per year, but some of them fall on weekends and, unfortunately, are not moved. Interestingly, the majority of them, 75%, are religious. Judge for yourself: out of twelve days, January 1st is New Year's Day, May 1st is Labour Day, and October 3rd is German Unity Day. That's all. The remaining holidays are related to Christianity, for example, Good Friday, Easter and Pentecost both last two days, separately Ascension Day and the Feast of Corpus Christi (???), and of course Christmas itself, during which we also take two days off in a row. To be honest, half of these holidays I didn't even know, but for extra days off in the year does it really matter what the occasion is?) #holidays
