I'm a simple emigrant and I love to travel
Every time I travel I make notes, photos, and other drafts for posts; it's become a habit and happens automatically. And then I hardly publish any posts about trips. I don't know why, but as much as I love traveling, I'm just as lazy to talk about it afterwards. Even to my girlfriends in voice messages. In general, I stopped hoping for a separate post about each place, but the sun is shining, the weather is inviting, holidays are ahead. So here’s a selection of beautiful and cute towns you can visit from Frankfurt by public transport and regional trains, either for just one day or for a long weekend. Heidelberg – one of the most beautiful cities in Germany, with the legendary castle on the hillside and the country’s oldest university. A walk along the old bridge over the Neckar with a view of the river and cozy streets will surely please you. Bad Nauheim – a resort town with thermal springs. We came there after work just to stroll, and there suddenly Elvis Presley was on the bridge. It turns out he served there and, as befits a small town, a reminder of that everywhere. Karlsruhe – one of the sunniest cities in Germany, very green. The city layout is such that all streets lead to the Ducal Palace. Great for walks, visiting modern museums, and relaxing in nature. Rüdesheim am Rhein – one of the most romantic towns on the Rhine. Narrow streets, wine taverns, and a cable car to the Niederwald monument create a fairy-tale atmosphere. We took the Romantik Tour, highly recommended; you can take it with friends. Koblenz – a scenic city at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle. Here you can stroll along the promenade, admire the German Corner, and ride the cable car up to Ehrenbreitstein Fortress for panoramic views of the valley. Idstein – a small historic town with beautiful half-timbered houses and the Witch’s Tower. Ideal for a relaxed stroll and atmospheric coffee on the old square. I also love their flea markets, whether in summer or at Christmas. Limburg an der Lahn – a Gothic cathedral, cobbled streets, and houses of dark timber. The town seems to have stepped out of the pages of a medieval fairy tale. I really like that. Mainz – a relatively large city with historic cathedrals, wine taverns, and street festivals. One of the oldest cities in the country; here you’ll find the famous cathedral and the Gutenberg Museum – the inventor of the printing press. Wiesbaden – an elegant spa town with hot springs and beautiful 19th-century architecture. Ideal for relaxed strolls. And if you want some action, you can go to the casino, just don’t lose all your savings there like Dostoevsky. Eppstein – and a whole bunch of other small picturesque towns, nestled in the greenery of the Taunus. In Eppstein you can see the castle ruins and, as usual: narrow streets, old houses, and beautiful trails for walking—a summer combo for a quick nature escape. Write your variants in the comments, or drop photos from these places, or criticize. In short, write something there; I’m curious to learn about you! #top5 #frankfurt #German_trips
