Post: I no longer trust German Google Maps

I'm a simple emigrant and I no longer trust German Google Maps

While leading companies are looking for where else to fit AI into their activities, and advanced SEO specialists are figuring out how in the future to optimize sites for a new kind of search, German companies don’t even try to update information in Google Business. Yes, lately even in big cities it has noticeably improved. Sometimes you can Google and find up-to-date information about a place, but mostly this concerns restaurants. And still, you never know if you can trust this information for sure. Recently we went with colleagues for lunch — online everything worked, but on-site it was simply closed. No sign, no explanations. Well, someone just came up with it that way. Or recently a friend went to yoga, arrived at the place, and there was an announcement "today yoga will be at such-and-such address." She went to the second address – and there was nobody there either and the door was closed. 🥴 The funniest situation happened to me several years ago. I really wanted to find a pool near my home. I searched the internet and found one, but something seemed suspicious to me. I know the area around my neighborhood well, and there are no pools there where Google showed, I didn’t remember. I decided to go, to be sure. I immediately dressed in a swimsuit, shorts, and flip-flops, grabbed a towel and set off on my crusade. I arrive — and there stands a huge Deloitte office, and I’m in flip-flops. The security guard looked at me, sincerely not understanding what I was doing here. Especially on Sundays. I say, excuse me, don’t you have a pool here? He probably has heard many strange questions in his life, but there is a feeling that I still won this competition. There was no pool there, and I wandered in a swimsuit through the park and returned home, without swimming that day. Therefore in Germany it’s better to call, come, peek into windows and hope for a miracle. Well, or at least not wear a swimsuit in advance. And have you had similar situations? #curiosities
