Post: I passed the German exam

I'm a simple emigrant and I passed the German exam

At the end of November I was taking a German exam at the B1 level. I couldn't blink, and here, in the second half of January I received the coveted results: a perfect score—just a couple of points short of perfection! To be honest, it's a fairly easy level for me, but I still took a few days off to prepare. I'm not going to tell you how to learn a language — there's no magic pill; you just need to study in your own rhythm and style. That said, I'm sharing how to become more confident before the exam. Don't hide from German. If you live in an environment where German is spoken, start all kinds of conversations in German. For example, I didn't even skip ads to listen to natural German and try to understand what they're selling me there. I also asked a colleague to speak with me only in German for the entire November. If you don't live in such an environment, look for opportunities to surround yourself with German. At minimum, find a partner or conversation groups, listen to at least 5–15 minutes of German radio. Yes, online. Wasn't Russ Hanneman's effort in vain? Work through practice exams. This will help you get used to the format. When I know what to expect, I can allocate my energy properly and decide when to focus on the exam and when to give my brain a break. I wholeheartedly recommend German textbooks — simply a wonderful channel and a chat with free German textbooks. I found there exactly the book with the test variants that I needed. I worked through all the practice exam variants from it, and only then did I feel much more confident. And in the end the shortest advice: don't delay. If you were afraid or lazy to sign up for the exam, or perhaps waiting for some sign – it's time. I myself went to take the exam only when I needed it to apply for citizenship, but now I understand that if I hadn't dragged my feet, I could have already obtained a C1 certificate. So go ahead and good luck! #useful #language
