Post: I submitted the original documents for citizenship

I'm a simple emigrant and I submitted the original documents for citizenship

I left the house on Monday at 7:18 a.m., the last time I went out like that was either to the kindergarten or to a low-cost carrier flight. When I stepped outside, there was fog, you could see exactly one meter ahead of you. The realization that my mission was magnificent didn’t help. So I feel for everyone who has to go out like that every day. I arrived, sat down, and they even brought me in a little before the appointment time. First they checked the correctness of the personal data from the form, and then they did ask a few questions. The Beraterin asks what democracy is? I explained, then she clarifies: “Are all people equal before the law?” I say yes. She won’t stop: “Are men and women also equal before the law?” It really tempted me to say “yes, but men are more equal” or “and whom did you exclude from the set of people from the previous question.” But I checked myself in time, decided that there, just like at the airport, it’s better to answer normally and leave jokes for the channel. They also asked what extremism is and why there is such an attitude toward Jews in modern Germany. I told the whole story, but she was less interested in it; on a follow-up question, I understood that she expects a specific word, “Holocaust.” As soon as I pronounced it, she says: “well, that’s it, great, sign here and here.” Then I, again, more to check off the boxes, asked whether they will have time to review my documents before the current card expires. The nice Beraterin says: “we can’t promise you anything about timing, but this—definitely not.” I say, thanks, no more questions. Now in about a week there should be a confirmation from Darmstadt, and after that there’s nothing left but to wait. The previous episode of this series here. How are things with you, what’s new? #useful #Ordnung
