I'm a simple emigrant, I would even say I'm a simple mortal

Within two months, even with my iron-clad immune system, I managed to get sick with just about everything, so I had to get acquainted with how the healthcare system works. When applying for a work visa, you must provide standard tourist insurance for a couple of weeks. But after arrival you already need to obtain a card from a German health insurance company, which starts to be valid from the first working day, although you receive it in hand only after 2-4 weeks. It covers expenses for general practitioners, some dental services, and allows buying prescription medicines at a special price. The main difference is that there are no neighborhood clinics you can go to by residence. If something hurts, you first need to visit a GP, and he will prescribe the necessary medicines if the illness is within his competence, and if not, he will issue a referral. You can go to any doctor; you just search on the internet or through acquaintances for a GP and go to him. The same with the referral — it only designates the 'type' of doctor, and after that you choose exactly whom to see. And, of course, don't forget that an appointment may be delayed by a month or two. But if you simply don't go and don't book, you won't have to wait at all. And I'm a simple emigrant: I brought medicines with me from Tyumen, and I'm treating myself with them. #здоровье
