I'm a simple emigrant and I'm slowly starting to learn what Berlin is famous for
This weekend I spent again in Berlin; it was only the second time in my life there, but we already definitely formed a relationship with this city. The first time most of my time was spent at work, I somehow missed my train by one and a half times—not because I was late, but simply missed it, standing right next to it—and this time I managed to dip a little into the underground. There were no convenient time-friendly train tickets available, so we had to take a bus, a little over 7 hours one way. Of course, it wasn’t as comfortable, but still tolerable. The city greeted me with a halted metro, because someone somewhere jumped in front of a train, and I was sent off by a taxi, the price of which was higher than the ticket itself—time management is my everything. Spending 7 hours of sleep over two days, we still didn’t manage a ton of things, and our “we’ll do it next time” will be enough for another hundred trips, I think. Of what we did: we rode a bus tour around the city and finally walked along the Berlin Wall with its famous graffiti, and also heard various stories about how life was for divided families back then and accounts from people who organized escapes to the other side, naturally risking their lives, at the Berlin Wall Museum. Another highlight of the trip was the Griessmuehle club. We got there on Friday night and left on Saturday around nine in the morning. When we were leaving, it was full of people who hadn’t yet planned to go anywhere. And I can understand them; I don’t even remember how that time passed, we left absolutely not tired, and if it hadn’t been for breakfast, luring us back to the hotel, we would have stayed longer. A large venue with two main halls with different music and several other lounge areas, the backyard, swings, benches by the canal (too dangerous for people in that state) — it’s all wonderful, but the cherry on top is the people. Enter this geolocation into Instagram and you’ll understand it all for yourself. Starting with glamorous outfits, ending with extreme or barely-there ones. People of all kinds and orientations; I can’t even imagine how much of them were drunk, smoked, and so on that evening. The 16.5 euros we paid just at the entrance definitely were worth it. I will definitely go back there. By the way, I want to reassure those who think this is scary and dangerous: during the whole time we never felt any danger. In general, I recommend it to everyone. #German_trips
