I'm a simple emigrant and I got my first sunburn in my life
I had to spend six months at a Mexican resort to get a sunburn in Frankfurt. Like many places around the world, we’ve been experiencing an abnormal heat of around 40°C for several days. Even at 8–9 p.m., the temperature reaches 38°C, and the hot air leaves little hope for a cool breeze. Indoors it’s even worse. In office buildings there are air conditioners, but in my office they are, for example, such that I’m always cold. And at home it’s more difficult, because often you can only use fans. Air conditioners here aren’t really common. First, because there wasn’t such a need for them before. Second, the devices themselves and their installation are expensive costs, add to that electricity charges, and air conditioners are already becoming a luxury. But the main thing is that their installation isn’t always legal. In multi-apartment buildings, apartment owners treat not only their own housing but the entire building as a whole with care. And the building facade is common property, so neighbors simply prohibit installations in most cases of both traditional and portable air conditioners. It turns out that even if you’re the owner of your apartment, you can’t do anything about it, a paradox! Moreover, it’s believed that this way of cooling is the most negative for the environment and dries out the already dry air outside. And how do you cope with the heat at home and outside? #frankfurt
