Post: It's time to move

I'm a simple emigrant and it's time to move

When I first arrived in Germany, I found an apartment quite quickly, in less than two weeks, so I didn’t experience all the nightmares of house-hunting. But even then I managed to enjoy photos of interiors! For example, in one listing there may be only two photos of the apartment building from the outside and in another—angles, walls, part of the floor, a random piece of a window. You go to such a place and suddenly discover that the ceilings are barely two meters high. And in some listings, 50 photos of every detail, like the soap in the bathroom: you end up sitting there trying to imagine what the apartment actually looks like. But the main problem is the very high demand. There aren’t many options to find housing here. Main platforms: immobilienscout24.de, immowelt.de, ebay-kleinanzeigen.de and Facebook Marketplace. Even despite such terrible photos, high prices (now it’s hard to find a decent two-bedroom for under 1200 euros in non-central areas) and often old construction, in Frankfurt demand still exceeds supply by 50,000 apartments. By the way, apartments here are usually rented out completely empty, and that’s understandable from the perspective of long-term renting. But on the other hand, the "move in and live" concept practically doesn’t work. I’m looking for at least a bathroom with a proper setup and a built-in kitchen—that’s already a luxury. So far there are hardly any options, but I hope my apartment will find me soon. And what pitfalls have you run into when searching for an apartment? #useful
